Q & A

Here’s where you contribute to the progession of my novel. I ask a question, you answer. You will not recieve a royalty, a name-drop, or even a thank you for your contribution. What you will receieve is confirmation that your comment was posted and the knowledge that you helped a fledgling author.

Today’s question:

Is there anything the United States government could do that would make you take part in an underground revolution against the government?

  1. What do you mean like, a bad thing? Er, I guess the government would have to institute a police state or something. OR ban alcohol. Boo on that. Or limit our access to information. Burn books. But I guess that’s a bit Fahrenheit 451-ish.
Or how about they way the government acts right now? Absolutely without consideration of the interests of the people. Like they don’t even notice that we’re getting poorer.
Maybe you should write about how they’re trashing the planet. That seems timely.

  2. I have a 401k so I don’t want to say anything that could later be used as a pretext to seize my assets for being a terrorist…

if the government acts outside constitutional limits its my duty as a citizen-soldier to form a milita to defend the constitution and body-politic against tyranny

  3. I don’t have time to think of a clever response (and you know I can’t be clever on a whim), but I have to at least say that bad government authority comes from too much government, hence my objection to too much government! Too much government control could also be a good cause for objecting to repression, don’t you think?

  4. The first thing that comes to mind is socialism/communism under the guise of humanitarianism, that undermines democracy. (I think my AP US History teacher would be proud that I actually know the meaning of thsoe words!)
